Don't Whine! Do Wine!

I love painting. Am I a natural Van-Gough? *cough* Ha! Funny joke! *cough*

But I really do love the art of splashing paint on a list of different kinds of canvases. Using water colors, pastels, and oils on paper and wood pallets was my go-to when stuck at home on the farm...

When I was in college, wine bottles littered the streets outside of the campus perimeter on Saturday and Sunday mornings . So it's no wonder I became a dumpster diver to rescue interestingly shaped bottles to place my own story upon...

Remember my Mickey Mouse venture?
Or my Pixar dream that came true after I just kept swimming towards the final product?!

After taking a short hiatus from my wine painting days, I believe the time has come to get back to my roots and get the juices flowing again. Especially after a midnight walk that led me straight to a plethora of blank canvases just screaming to be painted...

With a touch of Glass...

Inspired by the highly anticipated Disney Marathon in January, I brought out my inner-mouse in my latest bottle-project.

Paint Prep

If you follow me on Pinterest... (Which you should, 'Cause I'd love you forever and ever... and more than likely follow you in return) You've probably noticed a trend.
Headboards, dressers, lighting, Oh My!

With the Charlotte-countdown-to-move-in barely above the 4 week mark, I am starting to get down and dirty with the move-out process. I recently cleared out my closet, ridding my packing process of old skirts and sweaters. But lets face it, I'll probably have to go through it AGAIN just to make the total number of clothing boxes fall below 10...hundred (only kidding... or am I?)

PS- When I move, I am DEFINITELY LABELING MY BOXES LIKE THIS

Along with the clean out, I have been collecting bedroom furniture, painting pictures, and browsing through IKEA. It's getting real, folks! Remember when I posted this thought on facebook?

Well, I am still working on the job and pet part (which is turning out to be a lot harder than originally anticipated), but with the move-in comes the chance to decorate my bedroom! And instead of the usual bright oranges, blues, and yellows- I am heading toward a more neutral approach:
Browns, whites, navys, and copper.

3 years ago, I took a wicker 4-drawer dresser from my mom's own furniture stash, painted it white, and used it at school.

But like I said, I am leaning towards the brown wood look. 3 cans of spray paint later...

What do you think? It's like a blonde transforming into a luscious brundette... kinda?
Until later, I will continue my daily quest for all things move-worthy, a bridal shower gift, and the recipe for the perfect banana pancakes. Happy Thursday!

Weekend Recap

What a beautifully soggy weekend it was! Rainy and temps below 50 since Saturday, this little chica has been enjoying comfy tall socks, oversized sweatshirts, leggings, and cups gallons of coffee...upon coffee...UPON COFFEE!!!.... and tea. With plans including arts-and-crafts-night and babysitting, this weekend was a perfect chance to stay busy with enjoyable activites.

I painted this with my old water colors
(Ahem... paints from the 9th grade that are STILL usable! Miracle, people!)

Babysat this little caps-loving-munchkin.

Celebrated my big brother's 26th birthday with chocolate marble cake balls!
 (He's that old ALREADY? Geez!)

Oh, and I Pinned on Pinterest far too much for anyone's liking (except my own)Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and a great week planned out ahead of them!

My Life, as of recent

I haven't been updating my blog as much as I would like to lately. With spare time here and there throughout my day, I've been finding a lot of comfort in heading to the swingset up the street and enjoying the sunshine. Taking quiet drives with family and the munchkin have also been a huge blessing...

In between job applications, I've been working on some crafts that will make their way to the walls of my new apartment come June. What do you think? I used Van Gough's- Starry Night as a base idea, then left out the mountain thing on the left. Of course, mine is just an ammeteur attempt, but I'd like to think it turned out ok.

My painting-

Van Gough-

I've also been playing too much Words with Friends and Drawing with Friends for a normal person's diet...

Today will be a day of running errands with momma, running outside in the chilly spring temps, and packing for a little weekend getaway happening tomorrow. Oh, and a little pre-birthday dinner tonight with some lovely friends and family. Who's ready for some pasta and clammy clams?! My Favorite Meal!

Happy Wednesday, online onlookers! PS- Hope it's humptastic!

If You Think Through Pictures...Write

-Artists at Gallery 23
 Sky and Anger
The sky is on fire and anger lit the match. Together, they stir the sea with chaos and laugh through fits of thunder, shaking the earth. The mountains quake, the sun stays below the horizon as long as she can, baffled by their commotion and lunacy. But they see her rising to battle, and they aim their ammunition towards her heart. Lightning sparks the trail of ashes and gunpowder, clouds that get caught in the cross fire, illuminating the sinister smiles of the morning. Blood sheds from the sun across the body of Sky and Anger, and yet, she seems to prevail. The clouds suppress her pain, join the fight, and vanquish anger's fury. He falls into the calming waves of the sea at the hilly basin. The sky is left without comrade, and he has no choice than to surrender, before he drowns in the bloodflow of the sun. Still breathing and beating with life, they come together, Sun and Sky, to bring us the day.
Can't all battles end this way?

If I had a Valentine...

Valentines Day is coming up on Monday...*Sigh*
I really do love this "holiday", No matter if I am single or taken...
I think it's extremely cute and another reason for us girlies to indulge in chick flicks, chocolate, candy, and flowers...
(even if they don't necessarily come from a guy)

Unfortunately, I can be a hopeless romantic... and have thought of what the perfect Valentine's Day would consist of for me...

*A handwritten Love Letter

Who takes the time to send snail mail anymore? Someone who wants to take the time to sit and hand write their feelings for you and give you something truly timeless, that's who!
* A simple conversation over coffee, just the two of us
'nuff said.
* A CD with my/his favorite songs
I truly believe the music we listen to speaks a multitude of who we are within our hearts...

Mix them together and you have the foundation of two souls diverged into one soundtrack
*ME making HIM dinner...
I love to cook, and one of the greatest pleasures I have is creating something that tastes good and makes the other person fulfilled and happy. It must be eaten while lounging on the couch, in sweats/PJ's.
*Painting Project together....
I have always wanted to do this...
Hang a large canvas over the limbs of a tree, get 2-3 small buckets of bright colored paints, dip the brushes and splatter paint something crazy, fun and unique
(may get messy, and that's 100% ok!)

Until then... I shall spend this upcoming Valentines Day going downtown with the roomies, getting fabulous cupcakes, and cooking dinner for each other...

Anyone have any special plans for their upcoming Vday?

Happy Day, All <3
