“Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down.”- Proverbs
Sunrise could quite possibly be my one of my favorite times of day, second only to sunset. Living near the beach gives me new found love for getting up early, and getting out to the sand. Sometimes for a quick run, sometimes to sit and read and enjoy the silence I know wont last into the afternoon. But today, I woke up with the urge to capture some of this silence in way of photographs.
“You can find the footprints of God wherever there is beauty, virtue, humility, justice, truth, love and peace.”-Sri Sathya Sai Baba
I parked my car and headed over the waterway towards Wrightsville beach. Some of you may think I'm crazy, getting up at 8am on a weekend just to get some pictures, but I wasn't the only one out today enjoying the gorgeous morning sun. I saw several runners, a junior's surf competition at access 29, two yellow labs jumping among the waves, and couples splashing their toes in the lapping waves while holding hands. Sometimes, it just takes a few glimpses like these to feel the presence of something greater than yourself residing all around you.
I walked along the beach for about an hour and a half, one ear plugged into Joshua Radin coming from the small earbuds, the other hearing chirps and laughter from the birds and small children all running amongst the sea breeze. This, I thought, would definitely be one of the tracks on the long, ever growing soundtrack of my life.
I encourage everyone to get out and just listen to the things that live among you. I don't mean to sound all earthly and make you believe I'm a nature fiend, because trust me, I love my Ipod, cell phone, fast cars, and lazy day channel surfing as much as anyone else, but sometimes its nice to get away from it all and see what we may neglect to notice every day in our ever so hurried lives.
Who knows? It's in those hours, whether they are early morning, high noon, or night-time twilight, you'll find peace in you're favorite time of day...
“True beauty cannot be depicted by the gentle stroke of a brush or the swiftness of a pen. Only in the mind, can it be created and molded into perfection of form and thought.”- Anonymous
