Favorite Places in Wilmington, #3
So, if many of you don't know, I love baking. But even more than my love for baking is EATING what I bake! This includes cakes, brownies, cookies, you name it! But my all time favorite thing to experiment with and try are all different forms and varieties of Cupcakes. Minis, Large, Chocolate, Vanilla, Cream Cheese Icing, Mint Icing, Ganache Filled, Chocolate Mousse... Ok, you get the point.
Another thing you may not know is that although I love to bake, sometimes my cooking can be quite a disaster. I can follow directions, sure. But when it comes to making anything from scratch, one false move, and I'm toast. Which is why I leave the experts to do the baking for me. Leaving me with my only responsibility: Devouring the Sweet Morsel! If you're the same as me and adore the taste of melting cake and sugar on the tip of your tongue, Look no further than my #3 favorite place to go in Wilmington, NC.
The Hot Pink Cake Stand is not just an ordinary Bakery! It makes your everyday specialties, like mouth watering scones, streusel muffins, cakes, and cupcakes. But these treats are far from ordinary. I was introduced to this local treasure by my good friend Hayden (And let me tell you, this girl knows her way through many, many cookbooks, so she knew what she was talking about!)
Jody Carmichael is the founder and owner of the boutique-esque bakery downtown Wilmington. And once you walk into this small restaurant, the first thing you notice (Other than the mouth watering desserts lining the walls) is the masterfully placed decor spread throughout. Pink curtains against blacks and whites really makes the roses and picture frames pop! Its on the river front, so the rippling water outside the front windows also adds to the pleasant experience.
Jody has a FACEBOOK page that all are welcome to view and become fans. She also encourages everyone to check her status updates everyday for daily specials and promotions!
I personally enjoy the chocolate cake with sweet mint icing topped with an Andes Candy. Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing and Double Chocolate are also high on the list of favorites! So if I were you, I'd head downtown on one of Wilmington's famously gorgeous days, stop in, and get a cupcake and coffee. And hopefully, you'll see just like I have, that the Hot Pink Cake Stand is more than your average bakery, but a Local Gem you'll be dying to share with your friends and family!
Want to know more of my favorite spots? Stay posted! I'll fill you in soon...
