"Untitled"

She dances with shadows alive on the wall
her head is spinning, yet no cares at all
her hair swings softly in golden cascade
tracing her freckles from blade to blade
she points her toes and bends a knee
takes a bound and a leap while her heart runs free
the music consumes her mind and soul
summersaults on carpet, a tuck and a roll
she stills in the darkness, a smile revealed
souvenir scars from secrets she shields
the world around her run by whispering ghosts
and yet they are the thing that comfort her most
and as the idle moon rises and shelves its great head
she turns down the melody and slips into bed
a flutter of eyelashes, a sigh so content
she prays to God to send her consent
to wish upon stars and promise love deep
as he sings her a lullaby, and drifts off to sleep
