Have a Crafty (Inexpensive) Christmas

If you're like me,
nothing is better than giving (and receiving) homemade gifts at Christmas
So try out these inexpensive, fun crafts to make one-of-a-kind gifts for someone on your Christmas list!

Fleece-Tie Blanket
(No Sewing Experience Required)
My friend made me one of these a few years ago, and I absolutely love using it when I am lounging in front of  the fire (and watching the oh so glorious food network.)

Fleece Tie Blankets
Just pick two colored pieces of fleece fabric from your local fabric store (Preferably a solid color that compliments a fun pattern). Go 2 yrds long for each sheet, lay on top of each other, and pin with push pins to avoid poor alignment. Then, an inch into the sides, start cutting slits 1/2 inch wide, and tie it into a strong sturdy knot. All the way around, and you're done!

Shell Jewelry

Homemade Earrings
If you spend your holidays near a beach (like all you Wilmington folk) This is a great and easy gift idea for any pretty ladies you know who love to wear earthy accessories.
Simply head to your local craft store and pick out earring hooks ($4-$12- Michaels) If you're feeling fancy, even pick out any colored beads that will add a little something to your earware. Then, bundle up and head out to the shore and scavenger for a great pair of 2 similar looking shells
(The cold, rougher seas in the winter months have been known to produce more shells and beach glass, so the beach is like a gold mine!)
Use a sharp ice-pick, poke a hole in the shells, and string them on your hooks. Voila! B.E.A.U.Tiful!(Not an earring wearer? Try finding a leather necklace band, and lace your beach treasures as neckware)

Sweet Tooth Pleaser

Now this is for anyone who loves a little something sweet now and then
(So... Everyone!)
Pick your favorite cookie/fudge recipe.
Mine is the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe from Betty Crocker
Then, head to the nearest Dollar Store and you will find a plethora of goodies to amp up a traditional baked plate of cookies. There you should find boxes, decorated bags, fun-fetti pieces, etc... to decorate and enhance any ordinary plate of yummy treats. Go crazy! Have fun picking out your favorite colors or holiday themed containers and give that someone something for their sweet tooth
(Dollar Store doesn't have what your looking for? Try Michaels Crafts, the sale and clearance sections are sure to surprise you)
