Do the Twist

I am not much of a summer person (Gasp! I know…) But one things that I do love about the season is that my hair is usually long, wavy (the only upside to humidity) and pony-tail cooperative. Since starting my new job, I’ve been experimenting with ways to put my hair up to beat the heat but also look somewhat like an attempt to look cute.

My favorite is leaving the actual tail long and wavy, but keeping bangs out of the way with the side twist…

What do you think? Are you doing the twist?

Remnant

Remnant:
(noun) A small remaining quantity of something.
(adj) remaining.

I am blessed to call Jen Griffin my friend. Through my church in Wilmington during my college career, I befriended Jen and her husband and grew so much as a person just from their influence in my life. They are two of the most talented, patient, and compassionate people I have ever met.

One of the many things that I admire most about Jen is her ability to craft ordinary materials and turn them into something extraordinary. And I don't mean pom poms and googly eyes (even though these two materials are fun and cute)... I mean an ability to take something that may seem irrelevant, disposable, and worn down- and turn it into a treasured item that someone somewhere can use each and every day of their busy life.

Just recently I bought one of Jen's tote bags, part of her online Remnant collection, and I have been obsessed with its durability and versatility- let alone its beautiful design! I carry it to work, took it out for a dinner date, and even found it to be a good gym buddy.

I urge anyone who hasn't seen Jen's work to rush over to see her designs on her Remnant page where you can browse and buy your favorites! I promise you will not be disappointed by what this incredible woman has to offer.

(Did I mention Jen does her own photography too? All of her photos can be seen on her blog and on her online storefront)

The Blazer

With very high-hopes of a new job on the horizon, I can't help but open tab after tab of career-dress clothing stores. My bookmarked sites definitely include a little Gap, NY&C, and JCrew.

And the item that has been catching my eye lately is the timeless blazer. You can wear this little diddy up or you can dress it down. That's what I love about this signature staple to the working woman's closet! Pair it with jeans and flats, or cropped pants, heels, and pearls. It's like the cream-de-la-crop when it comes to versatile!

Patterned, plain, tall, pleated, etc... you name it! I feel like this jacket is the perfect fit for an emerging young professional lady.

Fashionista- Lady Di

If you know me even a wee-little, you know I have a wee-little crush on this Glee star...

Dianna Agron. A blonde beauty, for sure. I fell in love with her spunky attitude as Quinn Fabray on Fox's GLEE. But the even more so with the actress herself- energetic, creative, and all around classy. I mean, for goodness sakes, I even cut my hair to match her new-do last fall...

(Ashamed? Not even in the slightest...)

Besides the ambitious hair cut and her inspiring new website: You, Me & Charlie
This girl has some serious style that I plan to implement into my own closet this spring. Living in LA, this chica knows a few things about warm temps and dressing to meet the heat!

And so many, many more! Who are your fashion icons (And why?!)
Have a lovely day, happy wanderers!

March Outfits Are Going Green

Every month has its color. And of course with St. Patrick's Day coming up, March raises its green thumb to salute the day of Guinness, Mint, Four Leaf Clovers, and Luck above all Luck.

When I think of this month, I can't help but dream about an excursion to Ireland, where the color scheme of brown, gold and *you guessed it* GREEN! is everywhere. But until I make the big bucks to afford a luxurious trip to the land of luck, I'll simply wear out my favorite trends to fit it across seas.

March Outfits Are Going Green

Topshop sleeveless shirt, $64
Knit cardigan, £50
A line skirt, $37
Heart pump, $35
Forever 21 shoulder handbag, $16
1928 vintage earrings, $14
Red Herring gold bangle, £12
Gold watch, £9.60
H M leather belt, £7.99

Call me crazy, but I LOVE mixing different shades of brown, especially with grays and other neutrals. This small green cardigan and vibrant bejeweled earrings are perfect for the month of all things green. And of course, at the end of every rainbow awaits gold... and LOTS of it for all us pretty ladies!

How are you all celebrating St. Patrick's Day this year? Any big plans in the making?

Forecast calls for 100% chance of Bathing Suit Season Approaching

It's official! Less than a week until March. Which means spring is right around the corner, colleges will be releasing their students to frolic somewhere tropical, and temps will slowly but surely start rising *which is somewhat crazy because they haven't been too low to begin with*

This kind of forecast only means one thing... a trip to Target, of course!

Target- $14.99
Bandeaus and neon colors are HUGE this season, I ain't complaining!

($19.99)
And stripes, of course, are lining the racks...

($17.99)

Can't wait to see what other patterns and styles I'll stumble upon today as I make my way out to browse buy up everything purchase wisely :)

Has anyone else stared looking for new suits? Or am I just spring crazy?

More Julia

The first chick flick I can remember sitting down to watch with my mom was Pretty Woman
(What a choice to show a youngin', right?)

Ever since then, I have found this woman to be of utmost class, beauty, and inspiration.

The Month of Red-uary

February is always a good time of year- Love is in the air, beautiful snow is still falling in certain areas of the country, chocolate is acceptable 24/7 (Or I'd like to think so), and RED is EVERYWHERE!

A mere week away from Valentines Day, I can't help but dig out the reds from the far interiors of my closet and wear them out and about. And the good thing about the fun, perky, sexy, adult, innocent color... you can do it however you wish!
