My Life, as of recent

I haven't been updating my blog as much as I would like to lately. With spare time here and there throughout my day, I've been finding a lot of comfort in heading to the swingset up the street and enjoying the sunshine. Taking quiet drives with family and the munchkin have also been a huge blessing...

In between job applications, I've been working on some crafts that will make their way to the walls of my new apartment come June. What do you think? I used Van Gough's- Starry Night as a base idea, then left out the mountain thing on the left. Of course, mine is just an ammeteur attempt, but I'd like to think it turned out ok.

My painting-

Van Gough-

I've also been playing too much Words with Friends and Drawing with Friends for a normal person's diet...

Today will be a day of running errands with momma, running outside in the chilly spring temps, and packing for a little weekend getaway happening tomorrow. Oh, and a little pre-birthday dinner tonight with some lovely friends and family. Who's ready for some pasta and clammy clams?! My Favorite Meal!

Happy Wednesday, online onlookers! PS- Hope it's humptastic!

Happiness is...

  • Waking up to a downpour and a promisingly DRENCHING day, with no plans but a bed, covers, and starting a new book

  • Cake batter french toast for breakfast

  • Nude O.P.I Nail Polish

  • Doodling on wide ruled spiral paper
  • Watching home movies
  • Finding your first iPod (EVER) in the back of the old bookshelf, ((still charged and functional)), and listen to that "rainy day" playlist from 2004 on repeat

What is making you smile today?

Forecast calls for 100% chance of Bathing Suit Season Approaching

It's official! Less than a week until March. Which means spring is right around the corner, colleges will be releasing their students to frolic somewhere tropical, and temps will slowly but surely start rising *which is somewhat crazy because they haven't been too low to begin with*

This kind of forecast only means one thing... a trip to Target, of course!

Target- $14.99
Bandeaus and neon colors are HUGE this season, I ain't complaining!

($19.99)
And stripes, of course, are lining the racks...

($17.99)

Can't wait to see what other patterns and styles I'll stumble upon today as I make my way out to browse buy up everything purchase wisely :)

Has anyone else stared looking for new suits? Or am I just spring crazy?

Baked in the name of Love

Call me strange, but sometimes, I wake up with an urge to bake. Like an itch I can't scratch on the corner of my heel, I can't do anything until I pop something in the oven. Luckily, a little thing called Pinterest lead me to a recipe that incorporates Pecans, Scones, and Streusel-all in one (Too good to be true, right?). The recipe (which can be found Here) calls for blueberries, but my lazy bones couldn't be dragged to the grocery store, so I used nuts that I had in the freezer instead.

Now, the best part! Sharing the goodness that are these scones with my Meemaw and enjoying one over coffee.

Happy hump day, one and all!
(Oh, and happy baking adventures, as well!)

Whatta Way to Start my Wednesday

Every Wednesday for several weeks now, me and two very wonderful friends get up at the CRACK OF DAWN and scootch on over to the rec center for some sunrise yoga, followed by coffee/breakfast at one of the many coffee nooks around the city...
I just have to share some of the funny things that were said/experienced on this particular morning to allow you to bask in the wonderful-ness of this Wednesday routine...

1. Yoga today was all about contorting your body to the most uncomfortable poses in order to twist and knot up every internal organ possible.
Instructor said:
"Place your knees on the back of your triceps, balance your body off the floor, and placing all weight on your arms and hands, shoot your feet to the ceiling."
Okay... yea. Impossible right? At least for beginner/intermediate Yoga-ers!
We left the gym and made up our own yoga moves we'd like the instructor to try, such as:
1. Take all limbs off the mat and levitate
(to make this harder, close your eyes and do barrel rolls)
2. Next, stick out your tongue, balance your entire body above the mat, placing all weight on your tongue and teeth.
3. Do poses such as downward dog, happy baby, miserable squirrel, romping piglet, and courageous cougar-(Laurie, you're a genius)

Ahhh now don't you feel stretched and ready to roll?
After yoga, we made our way to Starbucks for a lovely morning drip, when Emily needed some study time with vocab and spelling. One word (and i'd like to pronounce it as my favorite on her list) was "Leprechaun"
Ok, so it's a pretty random, non-consequential word...
Except when you yell in the middle of a coffee shop with a man dressed in a kilt, all green, and a beard (aka, a leprechaun) walks by, and out the door.
Although he seemed furious, I still don't know if he heard me. But maybe Leprechauns have a 6th sense... Lucky me.

Happy Hump Day, Ya'll!
