Tonight we embark on one of my favorite Christmas Traditions set in place by my dad three years ago!
About three to four days before Christmas, my mom, dad, aunt and I bundle up in our winter jackets, thermals, and mittens to head up to the Catoctin Mtns. We end up at this little chapel, that is just what it is:
A Chapel from 1857.
No lights
No heat
No speakers, mics, or screens

Every Christmas for the past three years, we've gone up with our own cups of hot cocoa, singing along to the radio and watching the snow fall (because it always seems to be flurrying up in the mountains of western MD.) and waiting until they open the doors so we can file in and find a seat.
It gets packed, but that's ok, it makes it just a little bit warmer. We sing Christmas hymns, listen to a Christmas serman, and finish by everyone blowing out their own candles.
(which we receive so we may be able to read our bibles alongside the pastor)
I cherish this tradition because it doesnt include fancy lights, catchy tunes, or gifts.
Just the message that matters most. My God, My Family, and His Love.
Happy Wednesday, One and All!
